What a year it has been. As I was reflecting on my own life over the past 12 months, I also thought about the countless stories and experiences my patients have shared with me about their lives throughout 2020. I am truly privileged that people trust me not only with their vulnerabilities, fears and disappointments but also their joys, successes and hopes. It’s my job, but it still feels special. Yes, I know – #humblebrag .
I really do wish that 2021 brings more stability, more happiness and better health for all of us. The one thing that has become abundantly clear (at least to me) is that our relationships matter. We are each other’s anchors, support structures and safety nets. It is important to invest in our relationships because when sh!t hits the fan – we need someone to turn to. Even if all they do is listen whilst you cry or help you laugh a couple of times, it could be the little bit of fuel you need to get back on your own two feet.
So if you didn’t invest in your relationships in 2020, don’t worry, there’s always 2021 and the price of love hasn’t gone up even a bit. 😊
